49 countries in queue for Made-in-India COVID-19 vaccines

# India supplied corona vaccines to 25 countries;

JNS: India has supplied vaccine COVID-19 to 25 different countries and another 49 different countries are in the queue for a jab at different stages, said S. Jaishankar External Affairs Minister.

Speaking at the UNSC Open Debate on Implementation of Resolution 2532, Dr Jaishankar said 2 lakh doses will be given as a gift to UN Peacekeepers.

Referring the Bhagavat Gita’s message – “Do your work with the welfare of others always in mind” minister suggested the need for persisting with the vaccination drive, collaborating on genomic surveillance and exchange information, effectively addressing public resistance to vaccines and improving public health infrastructure and build capacity.

‘Vaccine nationalism’ must stop and internationalism should be promoted said Jaishankar adding “Misinformation campaigns need to be stopped and the next global pandemic must be proactively planned.”

Meanwhile, Pune-based Serum Institute of India will soon be sending Oxford-AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine to Canada. SII Pune CEO Adar Poonawalla on Twitter informed that his firm would supply Covishield vaccine to Canada in less than a month after receiving regulatory approval from the Justin Trudeau government.
