CMC to illuminate around 2600 homes under PMAY on this Diwali

Bokaro: Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) will illuminate around 2600 homes of PM Aawas beneficiaries on this Diwali.

CMC has decided to lit diyas in PM houses; Teachers, Sevika and Sahaika will be engaged in lighting diyas in those houses, informed AK Mishra Nodal Officer PM Aawas Yojana.

“We have also planned to hand over the keys of Pradhan Mantri Awas among 300 beneficiaries on this Diwali,” added Mishra.

Meanwhile, around 6000 beneficiaries who have been deprived with housing benefits will now get PM Aawas under ‘Aawas Plus’ scheme. The district administration Bokaro targeted to provide Prime Minister Aawas to 6007 such beneficiaries in the current financial year.

All beneficiaries would be getting registered within next two days. The selection of the beneficiaries would be done on the basis of Socio-Economic Census-2011, informed Sanjay Shandilya BDO Chas.

“The persons who are ellegible, but their names are not on the list will also get the benefits under ‘Aawas Plus’ scheme,” he added.

The district has been performing well in the construction of PM Aawas, though constructions of the few houses (during last financial year) are still pending, admitted Mishra.

“We are at work; the pending constructions would be completed in the next few months. The main objective of this project is to make affordable housing units and to make it easily available to the poor families,” he added.

“In the year 2016-17, the government targeted to construct 10,850 houses in the district, but it could not be accomplished; around 339 units are yet to be completed.”

While in the year 2017-18 the state government has targeted about 8,240 houses to be constructed in Bokaro district under this housing scheme which yet to be achieved; 308 houses are yet to be constructed. Around 355 houses are still pending allotted during the FY 2018-19 against the target of 6570 houses, he said.
