“But the functioning of the plant could have been hit and hunger problem will be created in front of the workers trapped in the plant if the lockout continued any later,” added Chanda.
He appealed to agitated workers and MLA to withdraw this movement for the national interest. DVC’s local management said that DVC Chairman P K Mukhopadhyay is on move for considering their demands.

The protesters had been on a dharna at the main gate since past few days and decided to step up their agitation by locking the gates and preventing the entry of workers from Tuesday 12.30 am due to the alleged apathetic attitude of the DVC (CTPS) management towards their demand. MLA Jagarnath Mahato refused to return the gate jam movement as the DVC management denied ‘on spot’ accepting their demand. The officials said that we will discuss on the issued after our board meeting which scheduled to be held on 2 June, informed CTPS official. “Earlier several rounds of meetings were fixed with MLA Mahato to solve the issues of the contract workers but MLA did not turn up on any scheduled dates,” added the official.
