COVID-19: India crosses 7lakh mark

JNS: India has crossed the seven lakh-marks in COVID-19 cases on Monday, become the third worst-hit nation by the coronavirus pandemic.

Only the US and Brazil are ahead of India in terms of total coronavirus infections. The US has nearly 29 lakh cases while Brazil has a little over 16 lakh, it reported.

According to the government’s record, the total count rushed to 7,01,240 in the country with 255,366 active coronavirus cases and 19,693 deaths were reported due to the virus. Around 4.24 lakh people have been successfully recovered from the infectious COVID-19 virus, thus the recovery rate in the country is around 60.85 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 99,69,662 samples were tested for the disease in the country till July 5, with 1,80,596 just on Sunday, it reported.

The country crossed the six lakh-marks in COVID-19 cases on 2 July. And it has taken just four days to record one lakh new COVID-19 cases as more than 20,000 new cases reported every day since 3 July and over 24,000 detected in each on 4 and 5 July, it reported.

Maharashtra reported the worst-affected state in the country with more than two lakh cases. Tamil Nadu is on second with 1.11 lakh and Delhi is on the third position with around one lakhs Coronavirus positive cases.
