COVID-19 Vaccination: India becomes world’s fastest country to reach 6 million mark

New Delhi: India has become the world’s fastest country to reach 6 million vaccinations in the last 24 days, the union health ministry said on Monday.

Additional Secretary in the Health Ministry Dr Manohar Agnani said, in the last 24 days, India has become the fastest country to reach six million vaccinations in the world. “USA took 26 days to reach the mark while UK took 46 days to reach six million vaccinations,” he added. He was addressing to the media persons in New Delhi.

Around 60 lakh 35 thousand and 660 beneficiaries have been vaccinated for COVID-19 so far since the launch of the vaccination drive on 16 January; around 54,12, 270 are health care workers and 6,23, 390 beneficiaries are the frontline workers among them.

Today vaccinations sessions were organised in 35 States and Union Territories in which 2,23,298 beneficiaries were vaccinated, he informed.
