DPS Bokaro wins Zonal Dance Competition

Bokaro: DPS, Bokaro emerged as the overall winner in the Zonal Inter DPS Annual Dance Competition- ‘Nrityanjali-2018’ on the themes ‘Barah Masa’ – Celebrating the Indian Seasons and ‘Kavyanjali’ (Sanskrit/Hindi) – Poetry in Motion organised in its school campus on Saturday.

DPS Ranchi bagged the first runners-up prize while DPS Ruby Park Kolkata was declared third and DPS Howrah came fourth. The prizes for best choreography, synchronization and props were also bagged by DPS Bokaro while DPS Ranchi got the prize for the best costume. Judges Critic Acclaim Award was given to DPS Chas.

The top four teams have qualified for the National Inter DPS Dance competition which will be held later this year at New Delhi. More than 180 students from 18 teams across four states of Eastern Zone including Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Assam and Jharkhand participated in the dance competition. DPS, Joka (South Kolkata), DPS, Newtown Kolkata, DPS, Ranchi, DPS, Megacity Kolkata, DPS, Nazira, DPS, Howrah, DPS, Guwahati, DPS, Chas, DPS, Raipur, DPS, Durg, DPS, Bhilai, DPS, North Kolkata, DPS, Jagdalpur, DPS, Ruby Park Kolkata, DPS, Balco, DPS, NTPC Farakka, DPS, Jorhat Assam, DPS, Asansol were the participants for this remarkable show.

The event was judged by Sangeeta Aich Bhowmic exponent of Bharatanatyam; Rajiv Ghosh exponent of Kathak and Debamitra Sen Gupta exponent of Odissi all from Kolkata.

Addressing the audience, Chief Guest, PK Singh, CEO, BSL appreciated the brilliant performance of the students and said that hard work is the only key to success. He encouraged the children for their spirit of participation and the exhibition of their best, which is much beyond any victory or award.

Speaking on the occasion Executive Director, Asset Manager, ONGC, Bokaro, N C Pandey, Chief Guest for the valedictory function said, that apart from the focus on academics cultural activities play a crucial role in the all-round development of a child.

Sudhir Kumar Agarwal, GM I/c, (P&A), BSL and Pro-Vice Chairman, DPS Bokaro was Guest of Honour during the inaugural ceremony. He congratulated everyone for putting up such a grand show.

Welcoming the guest, Dr. Hemlata S Mohan, Director and Principal DPS Bokaro said that ‘Nrityanjali is conducted under the aegis of DPS Society and DPSS initiated this Inter-DPS Zone 4 Dance festival Nrityanjali-2018 to make the students experience this rich cultural legacy of this land as a part of holistic education. She remarked that these competitions give the students a platform to showcase their talent.
