Dumri MLA gets death threat

Bokaro: With the assembly election around the corner, threat call to Dumri MLA Jagarnath Mahato puts police on toes.

District police stepped up security after Mahato, MLA of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha received an anonymous call on his mobile threatening him to kill on Wednesday evening. Later MLA informed the police and lodged a complaint at Chandrapura Police Station on Tuesday morning about the threat of his life.

According to the complaint lodged at the police station, MLA got a threat call around 6 PM from mobile no. – 9471741035. We have begun tracking the number and alerted the district police too, said Nirmal Kumar OC of Chandrapura police station.

MLA Mahato is famous for his undaunted style in his assembly area.

He is also called ‘Tiger’ and very popular for his impervious and fearless style among the mass. Several times he organised Kangaroo Court to hand out instant justice.

Here we receive several kinds of complaints and during addressing the complaints public punishments are delivered, said Mahato. “Though stick may be used in some cases”, he added.

I believe that I have the right to enforce discipline in any manner in my area, MLA said. Justifying his act Mahato said that he has acted as a guardian for the mass who residing in their area.

Notably, MLA has huge support regarding conducting instant justice with his methods as common supporters believe that it’s better for them to get justice rather than approach the police.

The MLA used to hold such courts regularly in the past.
