Governor conferred awards, felicitate winners of photography competition

#Photojournalist Chandan Pal was honored by the Governor.

JNS I Dhanbad: Jharkhand Governor, Ramesh Vyas, honoured the winners of the photography competition organised at Ranchi on Sunday. The state-level competition was organized by the Dolphic Council of Jharkhand.

On the eve of 27 Foundation Day of the International Dolphic Council, the photo contest cum exhibition was organized at Audrey House in Ranchi. Besides others, Mukund Layak and Madhu Mansoori Hasmukh, who received Padma Shri awards in the field of arts, were also honored by the Governor, informed NN Pandey, President of Dolphic Council of Jharkhand.

The photo contest was based on Jharkhand’s Nature, Culture and Festival theme. Photo Journalist Ramesh Verma, Ishan Sharma and Swapan Chakraborty grabbed the top position respectively on the themes, he said.

While Chandan Pal a Dhanbad-based photojournalist, bagged with the first runner-up award in “Festival of Jharkhand” and second runner-up award in “Culture of Jharkhand” as well as in “Nature of Jharkhand”. The second runner-up award was also honored by the Governor.

Meanwhile, Chandan was the winner of the highest award in the contest. The winners were selected from 200 photographs by the jury of Ashok Karn, Mukesh Srivastava and Sanjay Bose, said Pandey.

Beside others, Ramesh Prasanna, President of International Dolphic Council, former Additional Chief Secretary, Chief Conservator of Forests, AK Rastogi, Forest Department, Government of Jharkhand, Shantanu Agrahari the Vice President of the organisation, Kumar Manoj Singh Treasurer, Dr. Rajni Verma Joint Secretary, Prashant Karn, Harendra Sinha, Nandlal Nayak, Saikat Chatterjee were also present on occasion.
