ISM students celebrated R’Day spirit by donating blood

ism-dhanbadDhanbad: Over hundreds of students of Indian School of Mines (ISM – IIT) here celebrated their country’s 70 Republic Day by donating blood to commemorate the date on 26 January.

The members of an NGO Fast Forward India (FFI) run by ISM Dhanbad students donated a total of 125 units of blood by organising three separate camps on Saturday. The camps were organised at Jalan Hospital City Centre Dhanbad, Guru Kripya Hero Motors Saraydhela and at Bank More Dhanbad.

Blood Donation camp at Jalan Hospital was inaugurated by Dhanbad SP Aman Kumar. Speaking on the occasion he said, along with education, students have adopted their responsibility towards society very well; “this is the best way of serving the nation and inspirational for others,” added SP.

“Blood donation is the pious work. It saves the life of a person. The donator receives many blessings for this kind act,” he added.

“Donating blood is the highest form of service of humanity. At the same time the donator gets fresh blood and becomes healthier,” said Amresh Singh a member of Rotary Club Dhanbad.

In order to aware the masses about blood donation, this camp and nukkad natak was organized by the students. Our motto is to eliminate the myths of blood donation such as weakness, fear of needles and infection. Any healthy individual aged between 18 and 60 years and whose weight is above 50 kg with more than 12.5 dg/ ml Haemoglobin contain in the blood can donate their blood once in every three months, said the PMCH officials present in the camp, said Arun Kumar a student.

Refreshments and goodies were also provided to the donors.
