JNS: Days after the Taliban took control over Afghanistan, all imports and exports from India through transit routes of Pakistan have been stopped.
The Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) on Thursday said that the Taliban had stopped all imports and exports from India through transit routes of Pakistan.
Dr. Ajay Sahai, Director General of FIEO, said that the Taliban had stopped the movement of cargo through the routes of Pakistan, thereby hampering and stopping exports and imports between the countries, ANI reported.
“We keep a close watch on developments in Afghanistan. Imports from there come through the transit route of Pakistan. As of now, the Taliban has stopped the movement of cargo to Pakistan, so virtually imports have been stopped,” added Sahai.
“India is Afghanistan’s greatest partner, exporting 385 million dollars of net production in 2021. India imported roughly $510 million worth of products. India also has large investments of approximately $3 billion and some 400-year-old projects that are still being undertaken in Afghanistan,” he added.
“Though, few goods were being exported through the international North-South Corridor and other goods were going through the Dubai route,” said Sahai.
