JNS: IIT (ISM) students once again proved their mettle by securing top positions in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

GATE is a national-level exam that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering & Science for admissions into Master’s programmes and jobs in public sector companies.

The performance of Mining Engineering students, in particular, proved exceptional as six B Tech Students of this branch secured the top six All India Ranks, out of which Udit Jaiswal secured All India Rank 1, who was followed jointly by Devesh Raj and Shubham Pandey of the same branch by securing All India Rank 2.

The fourth All India Rank has been secured by Sumit Kumar Mudi of Mining Engineering, while Aman Kumar Jha and Amarsh Jain have secured the 5th and 6th positions, respectively, of the same branch, informed Rajni Singh, Dean, Media & Branding, IIT-ISM.

Udit, who secured the 11th position in the same exam during the previous attempt, cleared the exam with flying colours and emerged as the country topper in Mining Engineering.

Son of a Bahraich (UP) based Tiles & Marble Trader and Housemaker mother, Udit completed his Class 12 from Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial School, Lucknow, before being admitted to B Tech (Mining Engineering) at IIT (ISM) 2019.

Udit said, “Consistent effort is the key to success. My success is thrust on a simplistic study method and avoiding complexities, whereby revisions are also carried out regularly besides paying attention to regular classes”.

“Two of my elder brothers are also Engineers, but they are in the family business helping my father,” said Udit and credited his success to the support extended by their family members, including his parents and two elder brothers,” he added.

“I also take the opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to faculty members at IIT (ISM) for the quality education imparted at the institute,” further said Udit.
