The country manager for India, Dan Herman, adds “Manchester’s engagement with India increases year on year with ongoing research collaboration and partnerships with leading institutes, including IIT Kharagpur, and our recent investment in an office in Gurgaon. I’m happy to report that many Indian students are currently on campus studying with us and we expect all other students to return to full on-campus study from 2022, unless there is a major change in UK government guidance.

We know there continue to be some uncertainties, but we are confident that our campus is a safe environment. We will continue to act in line with any UK government guidance and regulations, as we have always done with the safety of our students and staff our priority.  Most of our programmes are designed primarily for in-person on-campus teaching and interaction with lecturers and other students, though increasingly with additional enrichment through digital resources.   We believe that being on campus is important for students to get the most out of their university experience and have worked hard to ensure the wellbeing of our students. We are committed to providing world-class opportunities to our students with our blended approach helping students study in a way that works for them and allowing the University to respond as quickly as possible to any changes.  The vast majority of our students and staff are now vaccinated with new students able to access free vaccinations post arrival.”

The University has a long history of welcoming students from India with more than 900 Indian students currently on campus.

Speaking about the popularity of The University of Manchester amongst Indian Students, Suneet Singh Kochar, Co- founder and CEO of Fateh Education, an international higher education consultancy specialising in the UK and Ireland, said; “University of Manchester has the highest level of interest amongst Indian students as the university provides the best of everything and since it is located in the second largest UK city it is accessible, affordable and has a large Indian community.”

Since the applications are many and students would like to stand out to get accepted, it is important that they spend time on their application so that their strengths are highlighted adequately,” he added.
