“Wear masks even at home”: Govt.

Face mask is now mandatory in Jharkhand

JNS: Wear masks even at home to curtail the spread of the new strain of coronavirus which is much more transmissible, urged government following the huge surge in COVID-19 cases across the country.

“It’s time people start wearing masks inside their homes as well,” said Dr VK Paul, Niti Aayog’s member (health), while briefing the press.

“Earlier the government had discussed wearing masks outside, but that now that the outbreak has spread, people should wear masks even at home,” he added.

In order to break the chain of transmission government also stressed on immediate isolation of anyone who has symptoms related to COVID-19.

Addressing to the media persons Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS, Delhi said, “Do not wait for the reports to come. Isolate. There is a chance that RT-PCR tests can be negative, as it is not 100 percent sensitive.

“If there are signs, just assume the patient is coronavirus positive,” he said.

Around 85 percent of people with this disease will experience a mild infection and will recover with symptomatic treatment such as fever medicine or steam, much as they would with a common cold, he said.

In reference to studies, there are risks of infection of 90 percent associated with the absence of a mask and the lack of proper social distance for two people. If the unaffected individual wears a mask, the risk will be reduced to 30 percent, it said.
