Bokaro: Riding the wave of the nationwide Fit India Movement, the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) on Sunday rolled out the high-energy ‘SAIL-Bokaro Cyclothon 2026’, bringing together more than 600 cycling enthusiasts from Bokaro and nearby cities in a vibrant push for fitness and sustainability.

The 14-km cyclothon was flagged off at 6:30 AM by Director-in-Charge Priya Ranjan, in the presence of senior leadership including Executive Directors Rajashree Banerjee (HR), Chit Ranjan Mishra (Materials Management), Anish Sengupta (Projects), Anup Kumar Datta (Operations), Dr. Bibhuti Bhushan Karunamay (Medical & Health Services), and Vikas Manwati (Mines), along with Chief General Managers and officials.

Starting near the Archery Training Center in Sector-4, cyclists completed two laps along a carefully mapped route passing through Patharkatta Chowk, Ram Mandir Chowk, Rajendra Chowk, and Gandhi Chowk, before looping back to the старт point. Robust arrangements, including hydration points, medical aid, and safety measures, ensured a smooth and secure ride for all participants.

With separate categories for men and women, the event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where winners were felicitated by the chief guest and senior dignitaries.

Beyond competition, the cyclothon sent a strong message—encouraging citizens to embrace cycling as a healthy, eco-friendly alternative while nurturing a spirit of community participation and active living.
