Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates ₹2,456 Cr NH Projects in Jharkhand, Announces Massive ₹2 Lakh Crore Infrastructure Push

Ranchi/Garhwa:  Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday unveiled a major infrastructure boost for Jharkhand, inaugurating two National Highway projects worth ₹2,456 crore in Garhwa and formally launching Ranchi’s much-awaited Ratu Road Elevated Corridor, a ₹558 crore project.

Addressing a large gathering in Garhwa, Gadkari revealed that the Centre has planned ₹2 lakh crore worth of highway projects for Jharkhand to accelerate development, improve connectivity, and generate employment. He noted that highway projects worth ₹40,000 crore have already been completed in the state, ₹70,000 crore worth are ongoing, and projects worth ₹75,000 crore are in the pipeline.

He highlighted key corridors such as the ₹38,000 crore Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway, and pointed out that Jharkhand’s national highway network has expanded from 2,600 km in 2014 to 4,470 km today.

Major Projects Launched:

  • Ratu Road Elevated Corridor, Ranchi (₹558 crore): 4.18 km stretch from Raj Bhavan to OTC Ground via Piska More, completed in 2 years and 7 months.

  • Eleven new projects worth ₹6,350 crore launched across the state.

Key Announcements by Gadkari:

  • ₹6,000 crore Outer Ring Road project for Ranchi approved.

  • Ranchi–Silli–Muri route declared a new National Highway under PM Gati Shakti.

  • Ranchi and Jamshedpur to get electric bus trials, modeled after Nagpur.

  • Sohrai tribal art to be showcased on Ratu Road flyover pillars.

  • ₹5,500 crore funding allocated from the Central Road Fund (CRF).

Upcoming Projects for Regional Boost:

  • Ekchari–Mehgama 4-lane expansion – ₹1,300 crore

  • Koderma–Meghatari highway project – ₹900 crore

    • To cut Ranchi–Patna travel time by 50%

  • Pakur bypass (20 km) – ₹450 crore

  • Hunterganj bypass (7 km) – ₹150 crore

These developments signal a transformational phase for Jharkhand’s road infrastructure, promising to reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion, and improve overall logistics and trade flow in the region.
