Jamshedpur Hosts Grand Unveiling of Durand Cup 2025 Trophy at XLRI
Jamshedpur: In a grand ceremony at XLRI Auditorium, the Durand Cup 2025 trophy was unveiled today, marking a historic moment for Jharkhand’s sporting journey. Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Governor Jharkhand graced the event, hailing it as a proud occasion and a powerful boost to the state’s sports culture.
Calling the Durand Cup a “symbol of India’s historic sports legacy,” the Governor emphasized that hosting matches in Jharkhand for the first time will not only elevate the state’s sporting profile but also energize tourism, boost local business, and inspire youth across villages and towns.
“Football is a dream that begins on dusty grounds and reaches international arenas—it embodies opportunity and equality,” said Governor Gangwar. He praised the enthusiasm for sports rooted in Jharkhand’s villages and highlighted national initiatives like Khelo India and TOPS, along with the recently introduced National Sports Policy 2025, as game-changers for India’s global sports ambitions.
The Governor congratulated the Indian Army, All India Football Federation (AIFF), XLRI, and the Jamshedpur administration for hosting the event and expressed hope that Durand Cup 2025 would bring Jharkhand national and international recognition in the world of sports.
