Bokaro: The timeless voice of Mohd Rafi came alive once again in Bokaro on Thursday evening as music lovers gathered at Birsa Ashram, Naya Mor, to pay tribute to the legendary playback singer on his death anniversary through a soulful program titled ‘Ek Shaam Rafi Ke Naam’.
The musical tribute saw participation from a host of local artists and admirers, including DSP (Headquarters) Animesh Gupta, singer Himanshu Shekhar Mishra, musician Jagdish Babla, and others like Dr. Rakesh Ranjan, Arun Pathak, Shefali Dubey, Mamta, Prabhu, and Ashok Babla. Attendees offered floral homage to Rafi Sahab and reminisced about his unmatched contribution to Indian cinema.
The event featured memorable performances of Rafi’s classics. From Jai Kumar’s rendition of “I am calling…” to Animesh Gupta’s “You will become the queen of my dreams…”, and Mamta’s soulful “The letters you write…”, the evening was steeped in nostalgia. Duets like “Deewane hain deewano ko na ghar chahiye…” by Himanshu Shekhar Mishra and Shefali Dubey, and “Wada karle saajna…” by Jai Kumar and Mamta, mesmerized the audience.
Instrumental magic added to the atmosphere, with Manoj Suman on saxophone drawing applause for tunes like “Badan pe sitare…” and “Chura liya hai tumne…”. Accompaniment by Jagdish Babla (synthesizer), Prabhu (synthesizer), Manoj (handsonic), and Manoj Kumar (octopad) elevated the performances.
