JNS: Mumbai went on high alert after a chilling message claimed that “34 human bombs” carrying “400 kg of RDX” were set to target the city. Within 24 hours, the Mumbai Crime Branch tracked down and arrested the sender—53-year-old astrologer Ashwini Kumar—from Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, the suspect sent the threat via a WhatsApp message to the Mumbai Traffic Police helpline, warning that bombs placed in 34 vehicles would “shake the entire city” and endanger one crore lives.

The timing of the threat raised alarm, coming just a day before Anant Chaturdashi, the final day of Ganesh Chaturthi, when lakhs of devotees participate in grand Ganesh idol immersion processions across Mumbai.

The police quickly mobilized and assured citizens not to panic. “The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a man from Noida for issuing a bomb threat. The mobile phone and SIM card used in the crime have been recovered,” the city police posted on X.

Officials emphasized that the threat was a hoax, but given the massive gatherings expected during Ganesh Visarjan, the potential risk could not be taken lightly.

This incident follows another recent hoax when a 43-year-old man was arrested for threatening to blow up Thane Railway Station.
