Lab Features: Drones, 3D Printers, VR, Rocket Kits, and More
Bokaro: Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro has once again set a benchmark in innovative education by inaugurating a cutting-edge Composite Skill Lab in its primary wing. This major initiative aligns perfectly with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes skill development and experiential learning over traditional rote-based education.
The new skill lab, inaugurated on Monday by Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar, is equipped with advanced tools and technologies designed to introduce young learners to the fascinating worlds of aeronautics, space technology, rocketry, aviation, drone programming, and 3D printing. The inauguration ceremony featured the symbolic breaking of a coconut and ribbon-cutting, followed by live demonstrations that showcased drone flights, rocket launches, and 3D printing in action, enthralling students and attendees alike.
This facility enables primary school students, including those below Class 6, to understand and engage with futuristic technologies from the very start of their academic journey. Children can now build and launch model rockets, program drones, design objects using 3D printers, and explore virtual space environments with Meta Quest VR headsets. Interactive setups such as wind tunnels and jet engine models allow them to grasp complex concepts of aerodynamics in a simple and enjoyable way.
The lab also includes practical tools like robotic arms, hydraulic bridges, milling machines, and vernier calipers, encouraging hands-on learning in mechanical and electrical systems. These resources are specifically aimed at developing artificial intelligence understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in young minds.
Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar remarked during the event, “This lab is far more than a technological facility—it is a launchpad where imagination takes form and tomorrow’s scientists and engineers are nurtured. At DPS Bokaro, we are committed to the overall development of our students by continuously adopting innovative educational practices that align with 21st-century learning needs.”
This development is a remarkable step for Jharkhand, marking the first time such a comprehensive skill lab has been made available for primary-level education in the state. Previously, a similar facility was established in the senior wing of the school two years ago, making DPS Bokaro a pioneer in STEM education at the school level in the region.
By fostering scientific curiosity and practical knowledge from an early stage, DPS Bokaro is preparing its students to thrive in a fast-evolving technological world. The school now stands among the select educational institutions in India that provide world-class STEM infrastructure, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
