News Desk: A tense security alert gripped Uttarakhand’s Almora district after a staggering 161 gelatin explosive sticks—over 20 kg—were found near a Government Higher Secondary School in Dabara village, officials confirmed.

The discovery was made when school principal Subhash Singh spotted suspicious packets tucked inside the bushes close to the campus. Singh immediately informed the police, following which two police teams arrived and sealed off the perimeter. Bomb disposal units and canine squads from Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar were also deployed.

The search operation led to multiple packets of explosives being recovered from bushes and adjoining areas. The bomb squad secured and sealed all seized materials to prevent accidental detonation.

SSP Devendra Pincha verified the recovery and stated that a full investigation is underway to determine the source and intent behind the explosives. A case has been lodged against unknown individuals under the Explosive Substances Act and Section 288 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

The alarming find follows closely on the heels of the recent recovery of around 3,000 kg of explosive material in Haryana linked to the Delhi blast case, heightening concern among central and state security agencies over possible coordinated terror activities.

Officials said multiple investigative teams are now working in coordination as part of a broader nationwide intelligence effort.
