News Desk: Amid heightened tensions in West Asia, India has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) announcing temporary airspace restrictions for a scheduled Indian Air Force (IAF) exercise along the southern stretch of the India-Pakistan border from March 5 to March 12.
The advisory earmarks specific airspace for exclusive military activity during the drill — a routine precaution ahead of large-scale exercises to ensure civilian aircraft avoid operational zones. However, the move has drawn keen attention in Islamabad, where defence planners are navigating multiple security pressures.
According to reports, Pakistan is simultaneously managing its western frontiers with Afghanistan and Iran while maintaining maritime vigilance in the Arabian Sea amid broader regional instability. In response to India’s planned exercise, additional Pakistani air and ground assets have reportedly been repositioned to closely monitor developments along the border.
Security officials indicate that Pakistan’s forces are already stretched due to overlapping operational commitments, with simultaneous deployments across land and sea theatres testing their capacity.
The southern corridor of the India-Pakistan border — particularly sectors adjoining Rajasthan and Sindh — has historically witnessed military drills from both sides, especially during periods of diplomatic strain or strategic signalling.
