Gurugram: In a significant move to strengthen women’s safety in the digital space, Gurugram Police has launched a special “Digital Saheli” Anti-Deepfake and Sextortion Rapid Response Cell. The initiative, unveiled ahead of International Women’s Day, aims to tackle the growing menace of morphed images, deepfake videos, and online blackmail targeting women on social media.
The system was inaugurated by Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora at the Women Police Station in Sector-51, Gurugram.
As part of the initiative, Gurugram Police has introduced a dedicated helpline number – 9999981002 – where a team of eight women police personnel will remain on duty round the clock to assist victims facing digital harassment or exploitation.

Police officials said that if any obscene photo, video, deepfake, or morphed content of a woman is circulated on social media, the victim can immediately report it through the helpline. Once a complaint is received, the police will work to get the content removed from social media platforms swiftly and initiate strict legal action against those responsible.
Authorities emphasised that the identity of the complainant will be kept strictly confidential, ensuring that victims can come forward and report such incidents without fear or hesitation.
Police Commissioner Arora said the initiative reflects Gurugram Police’s commitment to protecting women from cyber exploitation and ensuring a safer digital environment. The Digital Saheli cell is expected to provide quick intervention and support to women affected by online harassment, deepfakes, and sextortion.
