Bokaro: The Janwadi Lekhak Sangh (Jales), Bokaro, and the Khortha Sahitya Sanskriti Parishad jointly organized a condolence meeting at Sector 4F on Friday evening to pay tribute to noted Khortha litterateur and singer Sukumar and celebrated Urdu poet Bashir Badr.
Presiding over the meeting, senior litterateur Prahlad Chandra Das recalled the rich literary legacy of Suresh Kumar Vishwakarma, popularly known as Sukumar, who was honoured with the title Khortha Ratna. Speakers said his contributions as a writer, poet and singer greatly enriched Khortha literature and culture, and his passing has left an irreplaceable void.
The gathering also remembered Bashir Badr as one of India’s most respected poets whose verses captured human emotions and life’s realities with remarkable simplicity and depth.
Several literary and cultural figures, including Gopal Prasad, Kumar Satyendra, Shanti Bharat, Ajay Yatish, Arun Pathak, Dr. Nageshwar Mahto, Ashok Rajak and others, attended the meeting and offered floral tributes to the departed literary icons.
