Ranchi/New Delhi: Jharkhand and the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 to accelerate rural drinking water projects and strengthen tap water connectivity across the state.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony in New Delhi chaired by Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil. Chief Minister Hemant Soren joined the event virtually from the Jharkhand Secretariat.

Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti V. Somanna, Jharkhand Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Yogendra Prasad, and senior officials from the Centre and the state government were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Soren said the MoU would provide fresh momentum to the goal of ensuring tap water access to every household in Jharkhand. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to implementing Jal Jeevan Mission projects in mission mode and extending the scheme’s benefits to every village.

The Chief Minister said Jharkhand is working in close coordination with the Centre to speed up project execution and realize the vision of “Har Ghar Jal” across the state.
