A Triple Boost for the Navy
The three vessels represent different dimensions of naval warfare and are expected to substantially enhance the Indian Navy’s operational readiness.
INS Surat, the fourth and final ship of the Project 15B class, is an advanced guided-missile destroyer equipped with modern weapons, sophisticated sensors, and enhanced stealth features. Designed for multi-role combat operations, the warship significantly strengthens India’s surface warfare capabilities.
INS Nilgiri, the lead vessel of the Project 17A stealth frigate class, showcases next-generation indigenous warship design. Featuring advanced automation and improved survivability, the frigate is capable of undertaking a wide range of maritime missions, including anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare.
INS Vaghsheer, the sixth and final submarine of the Kalvari-class under Project 75, enhances India’s underwater combat capabilities. Built with substantial indigenous content, the submarine is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s maritime deterrence and strategic defence posture.
