Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad professor Sanjeev Kumar Raghuwanshi has been selected for the prestigious IETE-CEOT Award (Biennial)-2026 for his notable contributions to opto-electronics research.

Prof. Raghuwanshi, from the Department of Electronics Engineering, will jointly receive the award with Dr Simranjit Singh of Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh). The honour recognises significant work spanning opto-electronic materials, devices, circuits, technologies, systems and applications.

The award will be presented during the 69th Annual IETE Convention in Kolkata on September 25–26, 2026. The detailed award ceremony schedule is expected to be announced separately.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Prof. Raghuwanshi credited his students, research collaborators and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad for their continued support. He said the award would further encourage his work in opto-electronics, optical sensing and photonics.

His research areas include optical sensors, microwave photonics, optical fibre communication, optical waveguides, plasmonic waveguides and speciality optical fibres, with a focus on sensing and communication technologies.

Prof. Raghuwanshi earlier received IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s Outstanding Researcher Award in 2021 for his work in optical communication and microwave photonics. He also won the Best Paper Award at IEEE Sensors Conference 2022 for research on high-sensitivity Fibre Bragg Grating sensors for biomedical applications.

His international research exposure includes an Erasmus Mundus Postdoctoral Fellowship at City University, London, along with academic research engagements in Taiwan. The latest IETE honour further highlights his sustained contributions to photonics, fibre-optic sensing and advanced communication technologies.
