ESL Archers Shine in State Championship; Kuldeep Mahto Bags Gold

Bokaro: Kuldeep Mahto’s gold medal-winning performance led a strong medal haul for Bokaro at the 17th Jharkhand State Junior Archery Championship, where archers from the Vedanta ESL Archery Academy showcased their skill and determination across individual and team events.

The championship, held from October 2 to 4 at the Centre of Excellence, Archery Academy, Karmadadhani, Dumka, saw participation from junior archers representing different districts of the state.

The spotlight was on Kuldeep Mahto, who clinched the gold medal in the Junior Indian Round Men’s Individual Olympic Round. Kuldeep defeated his opponent 7-3 in the final to secure the state championship title.

He continued his impressive run in the qualification round, finishing second in the Junior Indian Round Qualification (2×30 metres) with a score of 667 points and taking home the silver medal.

Bokaro also registered a podium finish in the Junior Indian Round Men’s Team Event, where the district team won bronze after a 6-2 victory. The medal-winning squad featured three archers from the Vedanta ESL Archery Academy — Kuldeep Mahto, Rahul Mahto and Sandeep Mahto.

He said their performance reflected the hard work, discipline and determination of the athletes and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing young sportspersons with training and opportunities to compete at higher levels.

The performance has further highlighted the academy’s role in promoting archery at the grassroots level in Bokaro. With regular coaching and exposure to competitive events, the academy is focused on developing promising archers for state and national-level competitions.
