New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for national unity and urged all political parties and institutions to stand together in the national interest, declaring that India must unite against forces that undermine the country’s honour, divide society and harbour hatred towards its culture.

Addressing the Vijayadashami celebrations in Delhi, Modi invoked the timeless message of the victory of good over evil and called upon citizens to renew their commitment to the principle of “Nation First” on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra.

“ We must unite against the enemies of the nation,” the Prime Minister said, urging people to identify and defeat forces that threaten India’s dignity, social harmony and cultural heritage.

His address placed national unity, cultural confidence, self-reliance and inclusive governance at the centre of his Vijayadashami message.

PM Modi Calls for Unity Across Political Parties and Institutions

Emphasising that national interest must take precedence over differences, Modi urged political parties and institutions to work together for the country’s progress.

Invoking an ancient Vedic mantra, “Samano Mantrah Samitih Samani,” the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of unity in thought, collective decision-making and a shared national purpose.

He said the spirit of Vijayadashami offered a reminder that even formidable challenges could be overcome when people stood together for truth and humanity.

The Prime Minister called for a renewed national resolve to counter forces that damage the country’s reputation, create divisions within society or express hostility towards Indian culture.

He also expressed confidence that India’s collective determination would help the country overcome challenges and advance towards its development goals.

‘Nation First’ Remains the Central Message

Reiterating the importance of putting the country above individual and political interests, Modi urged citizens to embrace the principle of Nation First.

He connected the festival’s traditional message of righteousness triumphing over evil with the responsibility of protecting India’s unity, dignity and cultural identity.

According to the Prime Minister, the nation must move forward with a common purpose, ensuring that differences do not undermine the broader objective of national progress.

His remarks also underscored the role of collective effort in building a stronger and more self-reliant India.

Lord Ram’s Ideals and the Vision of Ram Rajya

The Prime Minister described Lord Ram as an enduring ideal for humanity and governance, highlighting the continued relevance of his values in public life.

He presented Ram Rajya as a model of good governance in which every citizen receives justice and respect, opportunities are available without discrimination, and the welfare of the people remains the primary responsibility of those in power.

Modi also stressed the importance of prioritising the service of the poor and disadvantaged, linking the ideals associated with Lord Ram to the broader goal of inclusive national development.

He referred to the vision of “Ram Se Rashtra” and “Dev Se Desh”—connecting devotion to the nation and translating spiritual values into national responsibility.

Vijayadashami: A Reminder of the Victory of Good Over Evil

Vijayadashami commemorates Lord Ram’s victory over Ravan and symbolises the triumph of righteousness over wrongdoing. Across India, the festival is marked by Ramlila performances, religious observances and the traditional burning of Ravan’s effigies.

In his address, Modi said the festival represents more than a cultural celebration, describing it as an enduring source of inspiration for the country.

He emphasised that the message of Vijayadashami remains relevant to contemporary India, particularly in encouraging unity, courage and determination in the face of challenges.

The Prime Minister concluded his address by reiterating his confidence in India’s future and extending Dussehra greetings to citizens, accompanied by chants of “Jai Siya Ram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.

His central message was clear: India’s progress requires collective resolve, faith in its capabilities and a commitment to placing national interest above differences.
