AH IVF at 25: Pioneering Ethical Fertility Care Across Eastern India

Ranchi: From a modest beginning in 2001 to becoming a beacon of hope for thousands of families, AH IVF and Infertility Research Centre has completed 25 years of pioneering reproductive care in Eastern India. The silver jubilee milestone is being marked with the 25th edition of its annual Baby Show—held in Ranchi, the city where Eastern India’s first IVF clinic was born.

At a time when infertility treatment was virtually unheard of in the region, AH IVF emerged with a clear mission: to offer ethical, accessible, and scientifically advanced fertility care. Over the years, the Centre has treated patients from Jharkhand, Bihar, and neighbouring states, maintaining strong clinical outcomes with success rates ranging between 70 and 80 percent, depending on medical factors.

Beyond numbers, AH IVF’s impact has been deeply social. In communities where infertility—especially among women—often meant stigma, blame, and isolation, the Centre helped shift the narrative. By promoting evidence-based diagnosis and shared responsibility in fertility treatment, it restored dignity, confidence, and hope to countless women and families.

The Centre has also tackled region-specific fertility challenges head-on. Tuberculosis-related infertility among indigenous communities, along with the effects of malnutrition, tobacco, and alcohol use, have been addressed through a holistic model that blends treatment with counselling, awareness, and long-term follow-up.

From its Ranchi roots, AH IVF has expanded its footprint to Kolkata, Patna, Siliguri, and Durgapur, offering continuity of care from the first consultation through pregnancy and delivery—an approach critical for high-risk IVF pregnancies.

The Baby Show, now in its 25th year, has evolved into a powerful symbol of resilience and trust. Each child celebrated represents a journey that overcame medical, emotional, and social barriers.

Reflecting on the milestone, Dr Jayashree Bhattacharya, Director of AH IVF, said the 25-year journey belongs to the patients who placed their faith in the Centre and to the dedicated medical, embryology, nursing, and support teams who stood by them.

As AH IVF steps into its next chapter, it reaffirmed its commitment to ethical, evidence-based fertility care—challenging stigma, empowering women, and continuing to turn hope into life across Eastern India.
