Awards of up to £12,500 to support enrolment in future-focused Master’s programmes in the UK
New Delhi: The University of Birmingham has announced the launch of its Future Skills Scholarship, offering financial awards of up to £12,500 for Indian students enrolling in select future-oriented Master’s programmes at its UK campus for the September 2026 intake.
The initiative aims to help students acquire career-ready skills aligned with the evolving demands of the global workforce. It forms part of the University’s broader commitment to invest more than £3 million in supporting international talent, reinforcing its long-standing focus on graduate employability. The University is regularly ranked among the top institutions most targeted by graduate employers, according to Highfliers rankings.
With industries being reshaped by rapid technological change, demographic shifts and complex global challenges, the University said skills such as data literacy, digital fluency, systems thinking and policy awareness have become essential for long-term employability and leadership.
For India, which has a young and globally mobile talent pool, access to education that builds these future skills is expected to equip graduates not only for international careers but also to contribute to economic growth, public health resilience and sustainable development back home.
Commenting on the announcement, Mark Lee, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (India) at the University of Birmingham, said the scholarship underscores the institution’s commitment to Indian students. “The Future Skills Scholarship reinforces our support for Indian students pursuing world-class education and developing skills that will shape tomorrow’s industries.
