Ranchi: The renowned Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra is all set to mark a major milestone with its 71st Foundation Day celebrations on July 15, 2025, bringing to a close its year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The announcement came during a press conference held at BIT’s Lalpur campus, where key faculty members highlighted the institute’s achievements and upcoming events.
The press meet was addressed by Dr. Shraddha Shivani, Dean of Alumni and International Relations, Vishal H. Shah, Associate Dean, and Mrinal Pathak, Head of the Media Cell. They spoke about the institution’s 70-year journey of academic excellence, innovation, and global impact.
A special cultural evening will be held on July 14 as a tribute to the institute’s rich heritage. Alumni will take the stage with soulful sitar recitals, melodious ghazals, and classical Kathak dance performances, celebrating the institute’s vibrant and artistic spirit.
The main celebration on July 15 will begin with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the BIT prayer. The event will include a special award ceremony to honour outstanding alumni, dedicated faculty members, and exceptional B.Arch students.
The highlight of the day will be the presence of Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, a globally respected entrepreneur and BIT alumnus, who will attend as Chief Guest. Also joining as Guest of Honour will be Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, former Director of IIT Roorkee and a distinguished academic.
BIT Mesra will present Distinguished Alumni Awards in recognition of contributions in fields such as engineering, entrepreneurship, research, teaching, public service, and leadership. A special Young Alumnus Award will also be given to emerging leaders.
During the conference, media representatives interacted with faculty and gained insights into BIT’s vision for the future. The speakers also highlighted recent successes of the institute in areas like cutting-edge research, global partnerships, and start-up development, reinforcing BIT Mesra’s status as a premier global institution.
