News Desk: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, announcing nine names as part of its strategy for the contest to 37 seats across the country.

From Bihar, the party has fielded Nitin Naveen and Shivesh Kumar, signalling strong backing for the two leaders in the race to the Upper House of Parliament. The nominations are seen as a calculated move as the BJP positions itself ahead of the elections.

In Assam, Tarash Gwala and Jogin Mohan have been named as candidates. Lakshmi Verma will contest from Chhattisgarh, while Sanjay Bhatia has been nominated from Haryana.

The party has also picked Manmohan Samal and Sujit Kumar from Odisha, and Rahul Sinha from West Bengal, rounding off the first slate of nominees.

With polling due for 37 Rajya Sabha seats, more announcements are expected in the coming days as parties finalize their electoral line-ups.
