Bokaro Bids Tearful Farewell to Jharkhand’s Architect Shibu Soren

Bokaro: A wave of emotion swept through Bokaro as party workers, leaders, and citizens gathered to pay homage to Jharkhand’s founding father and legendary tribal leader, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, who passed away on August 4.

A condolence meeting was organised jointly by the Bokaro District and Metropolitan Committees of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) to honour the life and legacy of the man who gave voice to the region’s most marginalized.

District JMM President Ratan Lal Manjhi hailed Soren as the heartbeat of Jharkhand’s tribals, recalling his fierce fight against the exploitative Mahajan system, which helped safeguard the identity and rights of indigenous communities.

JMM President, Bokaro Mahanagar, Mantu Yadav remembered Soren not just as a political icon, but as the soul of Jharkhand — one who championed the cause of tribals, Dalits, labourers, and displaced people. He recalled the veteran leader’s relentless movements against the SAIL administration, which led to the preservation of Levatand village and Churchuria Basti in Bokaro.

Speakers described Soren’s life as the embodiment of social justice and self-rule. His long struggle culminated in the creation of Jharkhand and earned him a revered place in the hearts of the people.

The hall was filled with emotion as hundreds, including central JMM members, local leaders, workers, and women’s front activists, offered floral tributes and observed silence in his memory. All vowed to carry forward his legacy of justice, dignity, and empowerment.
