Bokaro Steel Plant to Expand Within Existing Boundary, Targeting 7.5 MT: ED

Bokaro: A delegation led by Kumar Amit met the Executive Director (Operations) of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), Chittaranjan Mahapatra, on Thursday to discuss the status and challenges related to the proposed expansion of the plant.

During the meeting, ED Works clarified that the upcoming expansion of BSL will be carried out within the existing boundary wall of the plant. He informed the delegation that although the plant is spread over an area designed for a 10 million tonne capacity, the post-expansion production target will be 7.5 million tonnes.

The delegation also apprised the ED about the ongoing Maha Signature Campaign, a mass movement being undertaken in support of the plant’s expansion. They expressed that the citizens of Bokaro are strongly in favor of the development and are ready to extend full support to the management.

Members of the delegation—Sunil Kumar Mahato, Nivaran Prasad Mahato, Arvind Singh, and Lalbabu Kumar—emphasized that the local population sees the plant’s growth as a vital step towards economic and employment opportunities in the region.

The interaction was seen as a positive engagement between the BSL management and community representatives, reinforcing a shared vision for Bokaro’s industrial progress.
