Mumbai I New Delhi: In a disturbing sequence of events, both the Delhi High Court and Bombay High Court came under bomb threat emails on Friday, triggering security alerts, evacuations, and intensive investigations by law enforcement agencies.
Bomb Threat Emails Shake Delhi and Bombay High Courts
The alarm bells first rang at the Delhi High Court when an anonymous email claimed that three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were planted within the premises. The message specifically warned of a blast timed after Friday prayers, with a judge’s chamber reportedly targeted. Security forces, including bomb detection and disposal squads, conducted a meticulous search across the sprawling court complex. After thorough checks, no explosives were found. Authorities have termed the threat likely a hoax but are probing the source intensively.
Just hours later, the Bombay High Court also received a bomb threat email from an unidentified sender. The Fort-area court premises were immediately evacuated, prompting a comprehensive security sweep by police teams and specialized bomb disposal units. No suspicious objects were discovered, and the court gradually resumed its proceedings after ensuring safety.

Police Deploy Bomb Disposal Units, Conduct Thorough Searches
Senior police officials suspect the involvement of a repeat offender behind both threats. Preliminary investigations revealed that the emails were sent via Outlook accounts, containing references to RDX explosives—a tactic strikingly similar to earlier incidents. The cyber crime divisions in both Delhi and Maharashtra are collaborating to trace the digital footprints of the sender.
Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gawai, has requested detailed reports from both high courts regarding these threats. Meanwhile, security across high courts and other important government buildings has been further strengthened, including stricter entry screening, enhanced surveillance, and deployment of additional security forces.
Authorities have urged the public to stay calm and report any suspicious activity around judicial premises. The probe continues in full swing as cyber experts work to unearth the individual or group behind these alarming threats.
