Lucknow: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday declared that “every inch of Pakistan’s territory is now within the range of BrahMos missiles,” as India rolled out the first batch of indigenously produced BrahMos from Lucknow’s state-of-the-art facility.
Addressing a packed gathering after jointly flagging off the missile batch with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Singh said the event marked a new era in India’s defence manufacturing. “BrahMos is not just a missile — it’s a symbol of India’s self-reliance and growing military strength,” he said.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, the retaliatory strike launched in May following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh remarked, “The operation was just a trailer — it showed Pakistan what might follow. Victory has now become a habit for us.”
The BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre in Lucknow, a key part of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor, was inaugurated virtually in May 2025. Within five months, the first batch of supersonic cruise missiles was ready for deployment.
‘Backbone of Armed Forces’
Praising the indigenous missile system, Singh said BrahMos combines “speed, precision, and power”, making it one of the world’s most advanced weapons. “It features a traditional warhead, an advanced guidance system, and long-range strike capability — truly the backbone of our Armed Forces,” he noted.
He highlighted that BrahMos played a crucial role in Operation Sindoor, demonstrating its operational might beyond mere trials. “It has become the most concrete proof of India’s defence readiness,” Singh asserted.

‘Made-in-India is Now a Global Brand’
The minister underscored that India’s defence ecosystem is no longer dependent on imports. “Made-in-India is no longer a slogan; it’s a global brand. Whether it’s exporting BrahMos to the Philippines or collaborating with other nations, India is now a giver, not a taker,” he said.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision for transforming India into a credible defence and technology partner. “By 2047, India will be a fully developed, self-reliant global leader — and the defence sector will play a decisive role in achieving that,” Singh added.
Global Deals and Economic Boost
Revealing that the BrahMos team has signed international contracts worth ₹4,000 crore in the past month, Singh said the Lucknow facility will soon become a global hub for defence innovation. “Experts from around the world will visit Lucknow — a city now emerging as a leader in defence technology,” he said.
The ₹380-crore facility, spread over 200 acres, will produce nearly 100 missile systems annually. Singh said it would generate massive employment and development opportunities. “From the next financial year, the unit’s turnover will be around ₹3,000 crore, and GST contributions will touch ₹500 crore,” he added.
Concluding his address, Rajnath Singh reaffirmed India’s strategic readiness and growing technological edge. “With BrahMos, India has proved it can defend itself — and send a clear message to those who dare challenge it.”
