Bokaro: Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a key unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has been honoured with the Kalinga Safety Excellence Award (Silver Category) for its exemplary performance in industrial safety during 2024.
The award was presented on November 19, 2025, at a ceremony held at the Mayfair Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar. Odisha Assembly Speaker Smt. Surama Padhye and MP Shri Rabindra Narayan Behera handed over the trophy to the BSL delegation in the presence of leading industry figures, safety experts, and professionals from across the sector.
The Kalinga Safety Excellence Award recognises organisations that demonstrate exceptional safety standards, robust safety systems, and a strong culture of risk management. Bokaro Steel Plant earned the accolade after a rigorous multi-stage assessment, which included a detailed application on safety performance, documentation of safety initiatives, and a digital presentation before an expert jury highlighting innovation, hazard control measures, and employee participation in safety programmes.
Celebrating the achievement, BSL reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its safety culture and sustaining world-class safety standards in the years ahead.
