Bokaro: Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) launched ‘Sanjeevani’, a group health insurance scheme aimed at strengthening health and social security for its contract workforce. The scheme was inaugurated by Director-in-Charge Priya Ranjan at the Learning and Development Department.

Executive Director (HR) Rajshree Banerjee said the initiative is the first of its kind within Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), designed specifically for skilled and highly skilled contract workers not covered under ESIC due to salary limits. She termed it a reflection of BSL’s commitment to inclusive welfare.

Under the scheme, around 7,000 contract workers will receive coverage, operated through the Bokaro Welfare Trust with insurance provided by Bajaj General Insurance Limited. Each beneficiary will be entitled to ₹4 lakh IPD coverage and ₹1,500 OPD benefits for one year.

Calling ‘Sanjeevani’ a strong safety net, Priya Ranjan said the initiative would significantly boost the security and morale of contract workers. Health cards were distributed to select beneficiaries during the programme.

In a separate humanitarian gesture, BSL also handed over a ₹10 lakh compensation cheque to Neelam Devi, wife of late contract worker Binay Kumar, under the group personal accident insurance scheme, underlining the plant’s commitment to social responsibility.
