New Delhi/Mumbai: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will embark on his first official visit to India from February 27 to March 2, in a move seen as a significant step toward revitalising bilateral ties between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Carney will land in Mumbai on February 27, where he is scheduled to take part in a series of high-level business engagements. Over two days, he will meet Indian and Canadian CEOs, industry leaders, financial experts, innovators, educators, and representatives of Canadian pension funds operating in India.

The Canadian leader will travel to New Delhi on March 1. On March 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Carney will hold delegation-level talks at Hyderabad House. The discussions are expected to review progress under the India–Canada Strategic Partnership and chart the course for deeper cooperation.

Key areas on the agenda include trade and investment, energy collaboration, critical minerals, agriculture, education, research and innovation, and strengthening people-to-people ties. The two leaders will also exchange views on pressing regional and global developments.

Later in the day, both Prime Ministers are slated to attend the India-Canada CEOs Forum, aimed at boosting commercial engagement and unlocking fresh investment opportunities.

The visit comes at a crucial phase in the ongoing efforts to stabilise and normalise bilateral relations. Both leaders have previously emphasised the need for a constructive, balanced partnership anchored in mutual respect, shared economic interests, and strong community linkages.

Diplomatic sources say the meeting is expected to reaffirm the renewed momentum in ties and lay the groundwork for a forward-looking and pragmatic partnership between India and Canada.
