Gulgulia Gang Exposed: Ranchi Police Rescue Abducted Children

Ranchi: In a dramatic late-night offensive, Ranchi Police have dismantled a deeply entrenched child trafficking syndicate, rescuing 12 kidnapped children and arresting 13 operatives of the feared Gulgulia gang, a network believed to have preyed on minors for over a decade. Around two dozen suspects are currently under interrogation as the probe widens.

The breakthrough was formally revealed by Rakesh Ranjan, Senior Superintendent of Police, who described the operation as one of the most significant anti-trafficking actions in recent years.

Abductions Spanning Districts, Children Found Safe

Police said the rescued children were lifted from multiple locations across Bokaro, Dhanbad, Chaibasa, and Ranchi.

They are now under protection at Dhurwa police station, receiving medical care and counselling. Authorities are racing against time to trace their families, with DNA verification planned wherever identification proves difficult.

One Missing Case That Blew the Lid Off

What began as a routine missing-children complaint soon snowballed into a full-scale exposure. The disappearance of two minors from the Dhurwa area triggered an aggressive, multi-state crackdown. As raids unfolded, investigators stumbled upon a well-oiled trafficking machine, ultimately identifying it as the Gulgulia gang.

According to police, the syndicate had already lined up buyers for the missing children—but swift intervention stopped the sale just in time.

Inter-State Web, Years of Exploitation

Investigators say the gang operated quietly for nearly 10 years, maintaining links across Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.

Children were allegedly trafficked, relocated, and exploited through a layered network of handlers, transporters, and local agents—making the gang difficult to trace until now.

Begging Rings, Crime Gangs, and Darker Suspicions

The police investigation paints a grim picture. Trafficked children were reportedly forced into begging rackets, pickpocketing, and street crimes, while minor girls were pushed into sexual exploitation.

Officials also confirmed that investigators are examining possible links to organ trafficking, calling it a “serious and disturbing angle” of the case.

Police Vow to Go After Kingpins

Authorities insist the operation is far from over. The focus has now shifted to tracking financiers, interstate coordinators, and top-level masterminds who kept the network running.

Police have appealed to the public to report any missing child immediately, stressing that timely information can save lives.

“This rescue is a warning shot,” a senior officer said. “Anyone trading in children will be hunted down—no matter how long they’ve been hiding.”
