Ranchi: Giving fresh momentum to India’s coal sector, Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal and Mines, on Monday chaired a **high-level performance review of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), focusing on output growth, safety, sustainability, and long-term strategic planning.
The meeting brought together top leadership from the Ministry of Coal and CCL, including Nilendu Kumar Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, along with directors heading finance, human resources, operations, and projects.
Focus on Production, Safety, and Green Mining
During the detailed review, the Minister assessed progress in coal production targets, operational efficiency, mine safety compliance, and environmental safeguards. He also examined the status of ongoing and upcoming projects, stressing the need for timely execution and tighter coordination across departments.
Special emphasis was laid on action plans for the current financial year, alongside long-term strategies anchored in innovation, technology adoption, and efficiency enhancement.
Energy Security and Atmanirbhar Push
Commending CCL’s role in powering the nation, the Minister said the company remains a key pillar of India’s energy security. He urged officials to align every initiative with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, underlining the importance of safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible mining.
“The future of coal lies in efficiency, safety, and sustainability,” he said, calling for continuous improvement and innovation to meet rising energy demands.
Clearing the Path for Future Challenges
The review also highlighted the need for collective preparedness to address emerging challenges in the coal sector, ensure smooth project rollouts, and push for operational excellence across CCL’s mining areas.
Rajhara Colliery Reopens, Jobs on the Horizon
A day earlier, the Minister inaugurated the newly operational Rajhara Colliery, marking a significant milestone for the region. The event was attended by V. D. Ram, Member of Parliament from Palamu.
The reopening is expected to generate fresh employment opportunities, particularly for local youth, and give a major socio-economic boost to the Palamu region, reinforcing CCL’s role beyond coal production.
The twin developments—policy review and project revival—signal a renewed push to strengthen India’s coal backbone while balancing growth with responsibility.
