CSIR-NML Powers Advanced E-Waste Recycling Plant in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: In a major step toward sustainable waste management, the state-of-the-art E-Waste Recycling Plant, operated by M/s Eyantram Waste Management Pvt. Ltd., was inaugurated today at the AMTZ Campus, Visakhapatnam.
The facility employs breakthrough technology developed by CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur, enabling efficient recovery of valuable metals from discarded electronics while promoting a circular economy.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Padma Shri Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, and Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO of AMTZ.
Earlier this year, a strategic technology transfer agreement empowered Eyantram Waste Management Pvt. Ltd., led by Ashish Lohia, Bishnu Lohia, and Gurudatt, to implement advanced zero-waste recycling solutions.
CSIR-NML’s homegrown, energy-efficient processes—developed over 20 years under Chief Scientist Dr. Manis Kumar Jha—specialize in extracting precious, non-ferrous, and rare earth metals from e-waste streams.
Alignment with National Initiatives: Swachhata Abhiyan and Atmanirbhar Bharat
This green initiative supports key national priorities such as Swachhata Abhiyan and Atmanirbhar Bharat, offering a sustainable solution to electronic waste, reducing toxic environmental discharge, and generating new business and employment opportunities.
The plant is poised to serve industries, government agencies, NGOs, and private players, setting a benchmark in eco-friendly recycling and waste management practices.
