Dhanbad: Dhanbad’s rising karate star Prachi Priya has done it again—clinching gold at the National Karate Championship in Bengaluru, bringing glory to her city and state.
The Class 10 student floored her rival from Karnataka 4–1 in the Under-17 category of the CISCE Games and Sports 2025 to seal the top spot.
A Hero’s Welcome in Dhanbad
When she returned home, Hirapur erupted in celebration. A brass band, flower bouquets, and traditional aarti greeted the champion, with police station in-charge R.N. Thakur and residents hailing her as the pride of Dhanbad.
“This victory is unforgettable,” Prachi said, dedicating her win to her coach, parents, and school. Her father, Vimlesh Kumar Chauhan, called it “a moment of joy for the family and pride for the city,” urging society to see no difference between sons and daughters.
With her gold, Prachi has not only made her family proud but also placed Dhanbad firmly on the national sporting map.
