Gaya: District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar reviewed preparations for the upcoming Pitru Paksha Mela, scheduled from September 6 to 21, 2025. With an expected rise in pilgrim footfall this year, the DM is conducting weekly reviews to ensure seamless arrangements across all operational cells.
During Tuesday’s review, progress in the housing, water supply, and sanitation cells was examined. The DM informed that 50 housing sites—26 for pilgrims and 24 for police personnel—have been finalized. Additionally, 10 new sites, including government and private institution buildings, have been identified for accommodation.
He directed officials to rectify all deficiencies at housing sites, ensure electricity supply, and begin painting work promptly. Zones will be created for better site monitoring, and nodal officers will be appointed accordingly. The Municipal Commissioner has been asked to expedite the cleaning of safety tanks, with 20 already cleaned.
The DM urged all departments to inspect their assigned areas regularly and address gaps on a war footing to enhance the experience for pilgrims during the holy fair.
