India’s DRDO successfully conducts salvo launch of two Pralay missiles in quick succession
Odisha: In a significant boost to India’s tactical missile capability, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully conducted a salvo launch of two Pralay missiles in rapid succession from a single launcher off the Odisha coast, underscoring the system’s readiness for induction.
The user evaluation trials were carried out around 10:30 am from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur. Officials said both missiles performed flawlessly, precisely following their planned trajectories and meeting all mission objectives.
Performance data from onboard telemetry and advanced tracking sensors confirmed the missiles’ accuracy and reliability. The terminal phase of the flight was independently verified by instrumentation deployed on naval vessels positioned near the designated impact areas.

About Pralay Missile
Pralay is an indigenously developed, solid-fuel, quasi-ballistic missile designed for high-precision strikes against a wide range of targets. Equipped with advanced guidance and navigation systems, the missile can carry different types of conventional warheads, enhancing operational flexibility for the armed forces. Defence analysts note that its manoeuvrability and accuracy make it a critical addition to India’s conventional deterrence architecture.
The missile has been developed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad, with contributions from several DRDO laboratories and industry partners such as Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited. System integration for the trials was handled by the production agencies.

Senior DRDO scientists, along with representatives of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, witnessed the tests.
Congratulating the teams, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the successful salvo launch firmly establishes the reliability of the Pralay missile system. DRDO Chairman and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D, Samir V. Kamat, described the trials as a clear signal that the missile is close to operational induction into the armed forces.
The successful test comes amid India’s broader push to strengthen indigenous defence manufacturing and rapidly deploy battlefield-ready systems under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
