Bokaro: In a meaningful push to strengthen grassroots engagement, ESL Steel Limited’s CSR team conducted a leadership outreach at the Vedanta-backed Nandghar centre in Sindurpeti, bringing together children, parents, and local leaders in a vibrant display of community bonding and social commitment.
The visit was led by Ravish Sharma, Deputy CEO & Whole-Time Director of ESL Steel, along with Kunal Daripa (Head–CSR), Basudev Rajwar (Mukhiya of Bijulia), and Anand Kumar, Shiksha Project Coordinator at The American Indian Foundation. The gathering also saw active participation from CSR members and residents.
The programme opened with a traditional welcome, followed by a presentation on the Nandghar initiative and its role in improving education and nutrition at the grassroots level. Children added warmth to the occasion through poem recitations, while parents shared how the centre has become an essential support system in their daily lives.
In a symbolic gesture of partnership, a shawl exchange ceremony took place between community representatives and ESL Steel leadership. The event also featured culturally significant godhbharai and annaprasan rituals, underlining Nandghar’s integrated focus on maternal and child well-being.
A key highlight was the distribution of school bags and water bottles to children—small yet impactful steps toward encouraging education. The programme concluded with a plantation drive, reinforcing the shared vision of sustainability and long-term community development.
Addressing the gathering, Ravish Sharma emphasized that ESL Steel’s commitment extends beyond industrial operations to the holistic development of surrounding communities. He noted that Nandghar serves as a nurturing space where children grow, mothers receive support, and aspirations take shape.
The Nandghar initiative by Vedanta continues to emerge as a comprehensive model, combining education, nutrition, healthcare, and community participation under one roof. Through such efforts, ESL Steel aims to build stronger, healthier, and more empowered communities while expanding awareness and reach of Nandghar services.
