Flight Delays Hit Major European Airports After Cyberattack on Check-In Systems
JNS: Major European airports, including London Heathrow, experienced widespread flight delays on Saturday after a technical glitch, later identified as a cyberattack, disrupted check-in and boarding systems, UK broadcaster Sky News reported.
Brussels Airport confirmed that the attack forced staff to revert to manual check-ins, resulting in 10 flight cancellations and delays for 17 more flights exceeding an hour. Officials cautioned that it remains unclear when normal operations will resume, warning of continued schedule disruptions.
Berlin Airport also reported extended waiting times at check-in, attributing the delays to a system provider issue and assuring passengers that efforts were underway to restore services quickly. In contrast, Frankfurt Airport reported no impact.

The attack targeted a global supplier of check-in and boarding systems, affecting multiple airlines. Heathrow Airport urged passengers to verify flight statuses before travelling. Reuters later identified Collins Aerospace as the company experiencing the technical problem, which provides passenger processing solutions to airports worldwide.
