According to the ministry, the Act aims to promote empowerment, inclusive growth and better convergence of development initiatives, while ensuring saturation-based delivery of welfare benefits at the grassroots level.
The Viksit Bharat–G RAM G Act replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act of 2005, signalling a shift towards a broader and more ambitious framework for rural livelihoods and employment security.
Officials said the enhanced guarantee is expected to strengthen income support for rural families, improve resilience against economic distress and contribute to the government’s wider vision of building a Viksit Bharat through sustained rural development.
