Davos: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on January 20 marked a historic moment by participating in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, becoming the first tribal leader from India to attend the prestigious global summit.

During the event, Soren was conferred the White Badge in recognition of his leadership and transformative governance initiatives in Jharkhand. Reacting to the honour, the chief minister said it belonged not to him alone but to the people of Jharkhand, calling it a moment of pride for the entire state. He extended his congratulations to citizens, saying the recognition reflected Jharkhand’s growing global presence.

The chief minister is also holding high-level discussions with global leaders and corporate representatives to explore investment opportunities in Jharkhand. The meetings are aimed at attracting foreign investment and positioning the state as a preferred destination for sustainable and inclusive development.

Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, Soren said he had come to Davos with the resolve to fulfil the dreams of his ancestors and Baba Dishom Guruji, and to transform Jharkhand into a leading state driven by youth-led growth. He emphasised that Jharkhand’s progress would directly translate into improved opportunities and prosperity for its people.

According to officials, several positive discussions have already taken place with representatives of international companies, with more investment-focused meetings scheduled on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
