“Mongolian Air Carrier is preparing to operate charter flights to New Delhi and Amritsar starting later this year, which will make a substantial contribution to expanding our bilateral relations and cooperation,” President Ukhnaa said during a joint press briefing.
In a reciprocal gesture, Prime Minister Modi announced that India will provide free e-visas to Mongolian citizens, further strengthening travel and connectivity between the two countries.
“Even though we do not share a border, India has always considered Mongolia a close neighbour,” Modi said, emphasizing that the initiative would help deepen people-to-people connections. He also announced that India will sponsor the annual visit of young Mongolian cultural ambassadors to India.
The announcements come as India and Mongolia celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of Strategic Partnership. To commemorate the occasion, both nations released a joint postal stamp symbolizing their shared heritage and civilizational bonds.
The new air links and visa-free travel are expected to significantly boost tourism, business, and cultural exchanges — marking a new chapter in the enduring friendship between the two democracies.
